SAN JOSE, Calif., April 29, 2004 - Xilinx Inc., (NASDAQ:XLNX)
announced today that Intilop Corporation, a leading IP developer/provider and
EDS company, has selected Xilinx® Virtex-II Pro™ FPGAs for the development
of an IDS/IPS Appliance for enterprise LAN.
"This FPGA-based approach assures fast time-to-market, so we can realize flexible development, cost effective development for our customers to quickly enter network security market today," said Kelly Masood, chief technology officer at Intilop. "Using Xilinx FPGAs provides the combination of performance and flexibility demanded by this complex a device."
Intilop needed a flexible architectural approach for the development of such large SoC-FPGAs that integrate tens of standard IP cores, custom IP blocks and multiple Processors to be used in an advanced trend setting IDS/IPS appliance with focus on content protection. Utilizing Xilinx SoC-FPGAs with the appropriate Verification, simulation, synthesis tools chain from Mentor/Cadence, they were able to deliver to their customer, the multi-Giga bit security appliance in a record time.
“Intilop deployed their SoC development methodology for the development of these multi-million gate SoC-FPGAs, so that at a later stage this design can be ported to a custom SoC more easily without a long re-verification cycle,” said Kelly Masood
The Virtex-II Pro family of Platform FPGAs delivers up to four IBM PowerPC™ 405 processors immersed into the industry-leading Virtex-II FPGA fabric containing from 3,168 up to 50,832 Logic Cells. In addition, the Virtex-II Pro family offers up to sixteen 3.125 Gb/s transceivers along with the SelectI/O-Ultra ™, the industry's widest array of parallel I/O, delivering the ideal connectivity platform supporting all of the emerging high-speed connectivity standards.
